Each client entering our Austin detox program undergoes a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to help uncover any mental health issues contributing to their substance use disorder.
As a dual diagnosis treatment center, we can treat a number of mental health disorders as part of our detox process. These include anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. We utilize well-established, evidence-based medical and clinical assessment tools to help us evaluate the psychiatric needs of our clients, including The American Society of Addiction Medicine Criteria, The Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol, and The Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale.
We provide around-the-clock monitoring and medical support for individuals in our medical detox program. Our trained nurses and physicians prescribe medications and administer treatments that help alleviate and prevent withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, muscle aches, tremors, seizures and more.
During the drug and alcohol detox process, it is critical to identify the early signs of withdrawal to be able to manage pain and discomfort. In addition to providing physical relief, we also offer support, encouragement and therapeutic services to address the psychological and emotional side effects of detox treatment.
For most individuals, prescription medication is necessary to help manage the physical and psychological symptoms of withdrawal. Our medical and clinical professionals can secure an existing prescription or prescribe new medications to help individuals safely and effectively detox from drugs or alcohol.
Following detox treatment and cessation of physical dependency, we can coordinate ongoing medical care and medication management for underlying physical issues and mental health disorders. Our team is experienced in determining the appropriate medication for each individual case and avoiding cross-addiction.
Many individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction also have a physical or mental health condition contributing to their substance abuse. Our detox facility provides dual diagnosis treatment, which means we can address our clients’ physical, emotional, and psychological needs simultaneously.
This holistic approach to substance use disorder treatment results in higher success rates and allows clients to transition more fluidly between our levels of care. By working with the same therapist or psychiatrist from detox through outpatient services, individuals receive more consistent and thorough treatment.
Group sessions are an important aspect of our detoxification program, allowing clients to feel seen and understood by a community of supportive peers. Through sharing personal stories and discussing topics related to addiction and recovery, individuals can access levels of catharsis and healing in ways it is difficult to do alone.
Our group counseling sessions are led by skilled facilitators who help create a welcoming environment for those working through their addiction issues. Group sessions also offer an opportunity to practice new communication skills and emotional awareness in a safe setting.
Clients at our alcohol and drug detox center work one-on-one with a therapist during treatment to address any psychological conditions or disorders that may be affecting their recovery. Should a client choose to transfer to our inpatient rehab program, they will continue working with the same therapist throughout their stay.
Individual therapy is an essential component of addiction treatment. It allows individuals to process difficult emotions, work through past trauma, learn new coping skills, and improve self-awareness. Our therapists utilize a number of modalities that may include cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, accelerated resolution trauma therapy or dialectical behavior therapy.
