David Augustine Ysla is the Trauma Clinical Manager working in the Resilience Beyond Trauma program, a trauma-informed substance use treatment setting. He supports clients in residential and outpatient levels of care using strengths-based, solution-focused, CBT, and person-centered approaches. His work centers on emotional safety, practical skill building, and long-term recovery support.
David has worked in the field since 2016 and has held multiple roles, including cook, Behavioral Health Technician, recovery advocate, counselor, and family program services. He believes healing involves the whole family system and does not happen in isolation. He works collaboratively with clients and their loved ones, recognizing recovery often requires shared support and accountability.
David is a person in long-term recovery and brings lived experience, compassion, and responsibility into his clinical work. Client care comes first. He chose this field because helping others matters to him and because people once stood by him when he needed support. He serves as a steady presence for each client, walking alongside them as they build hope, connection, and a sustainable path forward.
David earned an Associate’s degree in Substance Use Studies from Austin Community College in 2018, a Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University in 2021, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University in 2025.
