One of the biggest changes for people entering recovery is the shift in friendships or social groups. It’s often difficult for people to maintain old friendships or develop new ones without the right support upon leaving a drug rehab in Austin, Texas. Our team at Infinite Recovery has created a safe, fun, sober community by bringing everyone together for our monthly Block Party! The last Friday of every month, we will be providing food, fun, and solution to anyone who wants to come out and fill not only their stomachs, but their spirits as well.

For many people freshly sober, our Block Party can be surprising. Many of these people have never experienced an event full of connected, authentic people. “I’ve never been to a crawfish boil without a beer in my hand. This is amazing! I’ve never hung out with this many sober people outside of a meeting. You mean all of this is free?” These were a few of the phrases overheard last Friday.

Our team’s mission in hosting the Block Party, along with Pink Cloud Vape Shop & Lounge, is to give people in our recovery community a chance to relax and feel comfortable. Not only are the food and drinks free, but we also have a speaker who shares his or her story after everyone is good and fed. Our entire purpose is to create a relatable, comfortable, and safe environment for those seeking recovery.

The experience so far has been truly amazing! With over 100 people in attendance at each of our last two parties, we can’t express enough gratitude to those who have come and supported the community. Socializing in sobriety can be difficult. Many of us hid behind drugs or alcohol to feel comfortable. These events are meant to not only spread a strong solution, but to also help people in recovery realize that they belong and can feel a part of our community.

So bring a friend, bring a neighbor, bring your mom! Just know that you and whoever you come with will always be welcomed with open arms!
